Paper Connection International carries a vast selection of patterned papers from all over the globe.

Our wide selection of Yuzen, or Chiyogami papers, are silkscreened kozo, inspired by traditional kimono patterns. We carry over 100 colorful images of these intricately hand crafted papers, displaying Japanese motifs and design. This highly decorative paper has thousands of uses and is expertly crafted from the highest quality with excellent strength and fade resistance.

Katazome, are decorated with a combination of stenciling and resist dyeing.  Katazome is a precise and laborious process.  A rice starch paste is applied through a “kata,” or stencil form onto the surface of a medium-weight kōzo paper. After the paste is dried, the paper surface rinsed and dried again, pigment is applied to the paper by hand using a badger-tail brush; color by color brushed on and left to dry in between applications. The pigment is absorbed into the paper wherever there is no leftover paste. The paste serves exactly the same function as wax does in batiking.  More than 25 resist-dyed patterns are featured in our collection, based on Okinawan “Bingata” traditional designs, as well as designs reminiscent of exotic Southeast Asian batiks.

Our Laurelai Designs, are fashion and eco-conscious patterns designed by a couple of paperwomen  exclusively for Paper Connection International.  All are silk-screened on a handmade, recycled, cotton paper chosen for its mat surface. All backs and fronts of each of the 18 styles are meant to be used in combination, for card, box and bookmaking and, of course, collage.

Newly added Mini Brocade Patterns!  These are earthy but elegant baroque, lattice and geometric patterns printed on handmade, recycled cotton paper.
